Title III English Learners: Developing a Growth Mindset for Student Success

with Maria Ortiz-Smith

December 11, 2018
8:30 am - 2:30 pm
at the Southwest Plains Conference Center
810 W. Lark Avenue, Sublette

Come learn how to use and teach growth mindset with EL learners! The "I can do it if I keep working" attitude is what we want from all of our students, so come learn strategies to help students help themselves, not just in school, but in life!

Social-emotional skills with academics equals success! Why does this matter? Students equipped with a growth mindset work harder, are more persistent and perform better under pressure! That is why people with a growth mindset (both students and adults) have been shown to learn, grow and achieve more over time.

Objectives for the Day:

  • Define growth mindset
  • Analyze the effect of growth mindset on students
  • Explore technology applications that can leverage growth mindset
  • Partner strategies currently utilized with growth mindset strategies for robust instruction
