Strategic Reading Instruction for English Learners

Our English Language Learning (ELL) students are required to simultaneously learn subject-area content, analytical practices, and language/vocabulary. This session examines three important components of these expectations in an effort to support ELL content literacy. A classroom that supports ELL students:

  • Builds skills and concepts through a socially engaged activity
  • Views literacy as a developmental process, focused on comprehension and communication
  • Injects language development into project-based activities
 

Registration fee:

$125/person SWP member
$140/person Nonmember

College credit available: 0.5 credit hour; $45 payable to MidAmerica Nazarene
